Programme Introduction

Promoting Community Health through Service

The Bachelor of Science in Community Health Practice is a comprehensive two-year programme that empowers graduates to implement effective community health initiatives. This articulation programme provides a seamless progression from Associate Degree/Higher Diploma programmes and serves as a pathway for future advancement to a Master’s in Public Health. Aligned with international standards, the programme equips graduates with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to become specialists in health education and promotion. With a focus on community-based healthcare, the programme recognises the influence of socio-political, economic and cultural factors on individual and community health. By fostering the development of well-trained community health practitioners (CHPs), the programme addresses the need for quality community health education and promotion. CHPs play a vital role in cost reduction for health and social care systems by preventing health issues, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and facilitating access to appropriate services. This programme prepares graduates to positively impact the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities through innovative and evidence-based interventions.
