The mission the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is to assist in the preservation, creation, application and dissemination of knowledge by teaching, research and public service in a comprehensive range of disciplines. Its academic departments are organized in eight faculties, which combine an emphasis on effective teaching with a vibrant research culture within a closely knit community of scholars.
Wide array of excellent undergraduate programmes
CUHK is a forward-looking comprehensive research university that offers a diverse range of major programmes across eight faculties.
CUHK also provides interdisciplinary programmes that empower students to learn by establishing connections between ideas and concepts across different disciplines. These programmes foster a holistic approach to education, nurturing students’ ability to think across boundaries and integrate knowledge from various fields.
“One brand, two campuses”
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) (CUHK(SZ)) are both positioned to be comprehensive research universities. The two universities are highly internationalised, providing an education experience distinguished by bilingualism and a college system that emphasises whole-person education and pastoral care. General education courses are provided at both institutions to broaden students’ perspectives and develop in them the ability to face the challenges of contemporary society.
CUHK and CUHK(SZ) are launching a comprehensive Collaborative Double Major Programme, the first of its kind in Hong Kong. Students will pursue two majors: Interdisciplinary Data Analytics, offered by CUHK, and another major from among specific academic disciplines (Science, Engineering and Business), offered by either CUHK or CUHK(SZ). In the four years of studies, they will attend classes and participate in learning and research activities on both the CUHK Shatin campus and the Shenzhen campus.
