Tomorrow’s Physician Leaders

In addition to the core MBChB curriculum, students admitted to the Global Physician-Leadership Stream (MBChB-GPS) attend leadership skills training courses to nourish global perspectives and leadership competencies and to prepare them to become future physician leaders in health policy, education, research or other promising fields in medical and health sciences.

GPS training emphasises the following:

  • Professional medical training with the MBChB curriculum
  • International and inter-professional exposure through overseas exchanges, internships and graduate studies
  • Leadership skills in research, humanitarian and social services, and public health administration
  • Enhanced Academic Mentorship

Career Prospects

After the successful completion of a one-year internship in an approved hospital in Hong Kong, medical graduates become registered medical practitioners, and subsequently specialists after another four to six years of specialty training. Some may opt for an alternative path by joining academia or becoming a clinician-scientist, combining clinical practice with medical education and scientific research to advance medical development and improve patient care.
