Programme Introduction

Interdisciplinary Curriculum Nurturing Future Global Leaders

Our Global Studies (GLSD) undergraduate programme nurtures future global leaders by cultivating a global mindset. It is designed to respond to the increasing mobility of talent and the integration of national markets, and to meet the rapidly rising demand for global leadership to negotiate international relations and geopolitics, coordinate with interconnected worldwide economic and financial links, and react to global environmental and health challenges (e.g. climate change, pollution and pandemics).


The programme is for students who:
  • are interested in global issues;
  • aim to equip themselves with global and cosmopolitan vision;
  • want to develop global consciousness;
  • want to develop the ability to think globally and act locally; and
  • want to prepare for future leadership in diverse global settings.

Students can choose two out of five concentrations from the following:
  • Global media
  • Global economy
  • World politics
  • Cultures and societies
  • Sustainability and the environment

Dual Degree Option

GLSD students can apply for the CUHK-Waseda University Dual Degree Programme. Participating students will spend the first two years at their home university and the last two years at the partner university.


Diverse Experiential Learning Activities

GLSD students take part in various experiential learning activities to deepen their knowledge of diverse academic disciplines:

  • Capstone Project
  • Resident Study Overseas
  • Internship
  • Overseas Field Studies

Career Prospects

GLSD students are trained to work in the public and private sectors, including:

  • Government;
  • Multinational Corporations;
  • Global Organizations;
  • Non-profit Organizations; and
  • Education Institutions.
