CU Medicine Plus
CU Medicine Plus is a progressive enrichment scheme that extends students’ learning beyond the classroom. More than knowledge alone, the scheme inspires students to EXPLORE through real-world experience, to EXCEED their comfort zones by turning passion into action, and ultimately to EXCEL in medicine according to their own talents—as Innovators, Scholars, Humanitarians, Leaders: well-rounded healthcare pioneers driven by passion and compassion.

Three-Tier Progressive Development

  • MedExplore – Foundation level for Medicine Year 1 and Year 2 students, focusing on whole-person development and interdisciplinary exposure through research, community service, or the pursuit of a minor degree.
  • MedExceed – Intermediate level for Medicine Year 3 and Year 4 students, enabling them to explore various medical specialties through thematic research projects.
  • MedExcel – Advanced level for Medicine Year 5 and Year 6 students, providing opportunities for specialised research and clinical attachments that build an in-depth understanding of their chosen specialty within real-world healthcare settings.

Career Prospects

After the successful completion of a one-year internship in an approved hospital in Hong Kong, medical graduates become registered medical practitioners, and subsequently specialists after another four to six years of specialty training. Some may opt for an alternative path by joining academia or becoming a clinician-scientist, combining clinical practice with medical education and scientific research to advance medical development and improve patient care.
