Programme Introduction

Ignite Change Within, and Illuminate a World of Diversity in Our Gender Studies Programme

Gender cuts across every aspect of human experience and is therefore the linchpin of all forms of social change. To live as our true selves, we must reflect on how we have been shaped by competing social and cultural forces. Equally important is recognizing our agency in challenging restrictive gender roles and stereotypes, combating discrimination, and questioning maladaptive social norms. Established in 1997, the Gender Studies Programme offers a comprehensive curriculum and interdisciplinary training, empowering students to appreciate the gendering of virtually everything, from intimacy, parenting, and education, to media, politics, economy, and wars. Our programme also deepens students’ understanding of diversity and equality through cutting-edge research on LGBTQI+ issues, masculinity and intersectionality through local and international field trips, interactive class activities and internships. Join us and embark on a transformative journey, gaining valuable insights into the intricate dynamics of gender and contributing to the pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable society.
