The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) admits local students with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination results via the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS). CUHK offers over 60 undergraduate programme choices to JUPAS applicants, covering over 70 major programmes. Some of these programme choices* have introduced broad-based admission to provide more flexible major programme choices to students. Other programmes at the University will continue to admit students directly on a programme-based admission.

* including most of the major programmes in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Social Science.

Admission Requirements

The minimum University requirements for applicants with HKDSE are 4 core and 2 elective subjects, or 4 core and 1 elective subject and the Mathematics (Extended Part) Module 1 or 2 / Other Language subject.

From 2024 entry, the minimum requirements for the 4 core subjects of Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Citizenship and Social Development are Levels 332A (that is, 332 and “Attained”). The minimum requirement for elective subjects is Level 3 (Grade E or above for Other Language subject).

Applicants shall also satisfy the additional requirements of the programme concerned.

Special Consideration

JUPAS applicants applying to CUHK shall be considered on the basis of the results they obtained in HKDSE, and their academic and extra-curricular achievements. Special considerations such as conditional offers and/or bonus points may be given to applicants in specific schemes.
