You can submit only one application for undergraduate admission to CUHK for 2027 Entry. Submission of more than one application will lead to applications being disqualified.
Local applicants applying for admission on the basis of international or other qualifications should submit their applications through the Non-JUPAS Local Admissions Scheme (Year One Entry).

CUHK is the only university in Hong Kong that offers a college experience. Each undergraduate is assigned to one of the constituent Colleges: Chung Chi College, New Asia College, United College, Shaw College, Morningside College, S.H. Ho College, CW Chu College, Wu Yee Sun College, and Lee Woo Sing College.
The Colleges complement the formal curriculum by providing whole-person education and pastoral care. The college system also encourages interaction among teachers, students, and alumni, fostering a vibrant and supportive university community.
Applicants admitted to a full-time undergraduate programme will be asked to indicate their preferences for college affiliation.
In assigning new students to different Colleges, CUHK aims to ensure that each College includes students from a variety of faculties and departments to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and ideas and to broaden students’ intellectual perspectives. The assignment of students to Colleges takes into account a number of factors, including students’ college preferences, study programmes, and admission scores. Priority will be given to a student’s first-preference College if either parent is an alumnus or alumna of that College.
While every effort is made to assign students to their preferred College, students may not be allocated to their most preferred College due to the limited number of places available.
Applicants admitted to a full-time undergraduate programme can apply for hostel accommodation. Applications for hostel accommodation will be considered by the respective Colleges. CUHK has the largest number of hostel places among UGC-funded institutions.
Yes. International qualifications such as GCE A Level/International A Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, SAT, ACT, AP, OSSD, BC, and other equivalent qualifications will be considered. Non-JUPAS applicants who have pursued a curriculum leading to a recognised non-local qualification at secondary or above level prior to admission may be granted, at the discretion of the Faculty Deans concerned, waiver of the Chinese language requirement for admission.
There is no need for applicants to apply for the waiver. If selected for admission, eligible applicants will automatically be considered for the waiver.
Applicants who have successfully completed courses at undergraduate level prior to admission may apply for course and unit exemption after they have registered as a student of the University. Applicants should submit copies of their Hong Kong Identity Card, or the first and latest Dependant Visa with landing slip/Entry Permit, together with a personal statement, academic transcripts, public examination results, at least one academic reference, and any other relevant supporting documents they consider appropriate. Applicants applying to the Medicine programme are required to submit a separate personal statement of up to 250 words. For other admission requirements of the Medicine programme, please refer here.
Applicants applying to programmes other than Medicine are required to submit one personal statement in English of up to two A4 pages or 6,000 characters.
You can still apply for admission to the University. You should submit the application first before the deadline, and send the examination results to the University once available.
The online application fee is HK$500 for 2027 entry. The application fee, once paid, is not refundable irrespective of whether the application is successful or otherwise.
Applicants can pay the application fee online through our Online Application System at the time of application submission. Failure to pay the application fee will result in delay in processing of the application.
Applicants are required to submit at least one academic recommendation through the online application system. You should nominate an appropriate referee who is familiar with your academic background and achievements.
You should upload all required supporting documents through the online application system.
After submitting your application, you may submit additional supporting documents, such as forthcoming examination results or other relevant documents, by using the document upload function in the online application system or by sending them to our office by post.
After submitting your application, you may be invited to attend an interview. However, interviews are arranged only for shortlisted candidates, and not all programmes or departments require interviews as part of the admissions process. If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will be notified of the interview arrangements by email or phone.
Applications are considered on a rolling basis. You will receive email notifications when there are updates to your application and will be asked to log in to the application system to view the latest status, including any admission offers.
If further supporting documents or information are required, we will contact you separately. Successful applicants may receive notifications from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid between December 2026 and August 2027.
